Referral Coordinator (Administrative)

Duty of the Position

The Referral Coordinator must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to coordinate operations of the referral processes, including, but not limited to pre-certifications, and scheduling appointments. Coordinate operations and processes of the Centralized Referral Office. Office equipment operation and additional duties as required by practice manager.

a. Obtaining pre-certifications
b. Collaborate with medical practices/facilities to schedule referral appointments, diagnostic testing, and
imaging procedures timely.
c. Coordinate referral appointment information and testing/visit instructions to patients by telephone or letter.
d. Maintaining Excel spreadsheet Referral Log.
e. Fax required documents (office notes and orders) to non-EHR practices/facilities in preparation of patient's
visit/test.
f. Scan documents (office notes/test results) into EHR from non-EHR practices/facilities.

Office Proficiency

a. Must possess excellent telephone skills.
b. Must be capable of multitasking.
c. Must possess computer skills, with Excel and Word
knowledge/experience.
d. Must possess written communication skills.

Job Conditions

Sitting Required to work while remaining in a seated position. Workers may sit to perform activities such as: attending meetings and documenting processes
Standing Required to work while remaining on feet in an upright position without moving about. Workers stand to perform activities such as: performing some work tasks, attending meetings and conversing with staff, patients, and/or families.
Walking Required to work while moving about on foot. Worker walks on concrete or tile covered flooring.

Qualifications

High School or higher plus 1-2 years formal training/education is required.

Must possess CPT and ICD-9/10 coding knowledge. Must know medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.

1-3 years related work experience.

Must possess computer skills, with Excel and Word knowledge/experience

Medical Office experience is preferred.
