Duty of the Position

Position Summary

This position is a direct resource to the President of Vidant Medical Center & Chief Operating Officer of Vidant Health
Hospitals. This role integrates vision with execution, fulfills commitments to internal and external stakeholders, and
completes communication on behalf of the President. This position will act as a multiplier of the Office of the President
and enable an environment to support office to work most effectively. This position is a trusted and highly skilled partner to
the President that must model integrity and maintain confidentiality. The role requires a highly motivated individual that
demonstrates strong emotional intelligence and communication abilities. This role interacts and maintains relationships
with all levels of team members and leadership throughout the organization.

Position responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

Executive Meeting Operations and Actions
Preparation for, and facilitation of, key meetings involving the President Vidant Medical Center & Chief
Operating Officer of Vidant Health Hospitals (e.g. VMC Executive Leadership, current and potential VMC
partners, higher education leadership, physicians, government officials and peer Executives). This role is
responsible to ensure that meeting objectives are effectively designed and appropriate support elements are
well-prepared. Specific responsibilities include and are not limited to:

a. Works closely with the President's Executive Assistant (EA) on upcoming President commitments.

b. Develops background information to prepare the President for meetings.

c. Ensures all participants are aware of and prepared for the meeting and captures key take-aways.

d. Partners with the President's EA to ensure appropriate and timely follow up communication.

e. Monitors progress and achievements of next steps.

Internal and External Communication
Prepares communications on behalf of the President. Communications range from the President's update at
Board meetings, to follow up correspondence related to the President's various meeting with VMC funders,
partners and staff, to various speaking engagement involving external audiences. Draft communications must
demonstrate a mindfulness of the President's and VMC's key external relationships and their respective
interconnectivity. Specific responsibilities include and are not limited to:

a. Manages the inventory of communication events; i.e.: articles, columns, speeches, panel discussions.

b. Partners with the President to outline resource support, communication drafting and/or researching in support
of each event. This could include fact checking, status reporting, and material development; including
coordinating with Marketing and Communications on specific bodies of work.

Alignment
Proactively identify concerns that could impact successful execution of the President's commitments. This
includes elevating those issues about which the President should be aware and framing ideas to resolve the
problem or mitigate the risk. This aspect of this role and will require focus on the underlying interests of the
parties working with the President, understand their intentions, and creatively identify alternative means of
handing pressing issues.

Projects
In collaboration with Systems and Procedures leadership, coordinate the execution of projects or commitments
directly involving the president and his direct reports. Provide independent leadership of special President
initiated projects, ranging from written products to be authored by the President or convening thought leaders
on various topics as requested. Specific responsibilities include and are not limited to:

a. Scope, plan and execute multiple, often quick-turnaround projects with minimal outside assistance.

b. Present ideas for Special Projects that might facilitate the President's objectives.

c. When necessary, oversee the transfer of assigned projects to other stakeholders.

d. Prepare to apprise the President of status and variations from schedule or scope.

Education and Research
Consistently seek knowledge of industry movements, regulations, and emerging innovations that impact
healthcare and steadily communicates learnings with the President. Activates research of new ideas, trends,
and policy and constructs executive summaries of learnings and impacts for President.

Job Conditions

The heaviest weight lifted by this worker is 10.3 pounds or 2 reams of copy paper, which is generally lifted between floor and waist height above the ground when performing the job. The frequency of lifting over the course of a normal workday would be classified as occasional. It is also important to understand weights lifted at greater frequencies are lighter in nature.

The work of this team member is performed indoors in a healthcare facility.

The worker is required to wear PPE consistent with the nature of the work.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements

Master's Degree required. (A bachelor's degree with a minimum 5 years experience may be substituted)

Minimum of 3 years experience is required. Experience in business administration, process improvement, project
management, consulting or other related experience. Experience in hospital environments is preferred. Successful
completion of an Administrative Fellowship may be substituted for years of experience.
